In July 1998, when PP Pete Petisme of RC Cainta was designated DGSR by then
DG Tony Co, he invited a group of prospective Rotarians to a once-a-week meeting
at the Tuhog, Tsibog, Busog Restaurant along Ortigas Avenue. The objective
of the meetings was to form the ROTARY CLUB OF CAINTA BROOKSIDE HILLS (RCCBH),
a community-based Rotary Club.
After a series of meetings where the prospective members experienced the brand of Rotary camaraderie and fellowship, an election of officers was called on 14 November 1998. Rolly de Guzman was elected Charter President. It was on 12 December of the same year that the Club was chartered, and members were inducted in a fitting ceremony at the Brookside Hills Area 8 covered court.
Since 2003, the members have been meeting weekly every Tuesday evening at the Roofdeck Grille and Café, located at # 35 Melani Drive, Brookside Hills Subdivision. Among the flagship projects that the Club has undertaken are the following:
Development of the Joggers’ and Children’s Park at the Brookside Area 4 Oval in RY 1998-1999 & 1999-2000: This project was funded out if the proceeds from the highly successful fund-raising activity “Golf-For-A-Cause”;
Initiation and signing of a Sisterhood Agreement with the Rotary Club of Incheon Juan of South Korea in RY 2002-2003;
One thousand dollars (US$1,000.00) donation from PP Pete Petisme, which was applied to the Rotary Pinugay Housing Project in Antipolo in RY 2003-2004;
Matching grant application and approval for the “Mobile Soup Kitchen” in RYs 2003-2004 & 2004-2005: this Project was undertaken in partnership with the Rotary Club of Incheon Juan and with the Rotary Club of Cainta-Mother Club. Early this year, the fabrication of the Mobile Soup Vehicle which will be used for the Club’s Supplemental Feeding Program was finally completed;
Launching of the annual “Free Anti-Rabies Vaccination Project” in RY 2001-2002;
Relief aid and donation to the typhoon victims in the Province of Aurora in RY 2003-2004; &
Supplemental feeding program for indigent children in cooperation with the Dominican Laity of Cainta under its community outreach program in RY 2005-2006.
For its
successful efforts in meeting the District’s various thrusts, the Club
and its past presidents
Have received several Presidential citations and leadership awards.
Building on the successes of its past programs, the Rotary Club of Cainta Brookside Hills once again looks forward to the coming year with a full resolve to live up to its tradition of fellowship and service, steadfast in its commitment, untiring in spirit and always with a bold and creative take on new challenges that lie ahead.
